Choose Insert mode to insert new points with the mouse.
When Insert mode is active:
- the mouse pointer appears as a pencil,
- an option bullet appears in front of this menu command, and
- the Insert mode button in the toolbar appears down.
To insert a new point:
- click with the mouse pointer at the position where you want to insert a new point.
Each time that you insert a new point, a small list or a small text box will appear asking for the class name, ID, or value of the new point. Whether you can enter a class name, type an ID, or type a value depends on the domain of the map.
The behaviour of the text box is described in Point editor : Insert new point.
Tips:
- To cancel the inserting of a new point, press the Esc key on the keyboard.
- You can also insert points with the digitizer.
- Furthermore, you can insert new points by typing coordinates on the keyboard: select Add Point from the Edit menu or from the context-sensitive menu.
