Catalog(s)

The large right-central part of the Main window may show one or more Catalogs.

A Catalog provides an overview of:

Also drives and directories can be shown. To see foreign file types in a Catalog, i.e. files with non-ILWIS extensions, use the Customize Catalog, Object Selection tab.

To get Help on a certain object type, click the object in a Catalog with the right mouse button, and choose Help from the context-sensitive menu.

List View and Details View:

In ILWIS 3, you can choose to see the objects in a Catalog listed in:

You can use the List and the Details commands on the View menu of the Main window, but you can also use the List button or the Details button in the standard toolbar of the Main window.

Multiple Catalogs:

To open another new Catalog, you can choose the New Catalog command from the Window menu in the Main window, or click the New Catalog button in the standard toolbar of the Main window. Multiple Catalogs may give you a better overview of your data in several directories or in several object collections, etc. You can also easily copy objects from one Catalog (directory, object collection) to another by dragging.
