Multiple Catalogs:
To open another new Catalog, you can choose the New Catalog command from the Window menu in the Main window, or click the New Catalog button in the standard toolbar of the Main window. Multiple Catalogs may give you a better overview of your data in several directories or in several object collections, etc. You can also easily copy objects from one Catalog (directory, object collection) to another by dragging.
Using a Catalog:
A Catalog is mainly used for the following actions:
- move the mouse pointer over an object in a Catalog:
the status bar displays the description of that object, and whether an object is dependent (D), calculated (C) and/or up-to-date (U);
- double-click an object in a Catalog:
the object is opened and displayed in a new window; if you open a dependent object which has not been calculated yet, the object will first be calculated;
- click the right mouse button on an object in a Catalog:
a context-sensitive menu appears from which you can choose a command or an operation,
- drag one or more raster, polygon, segment or point maps from a Catalog to a map window or to a pixel information window:
the object(s) are added to that map window or that pixel info window,
- drag a compatible georeference or coordinate system from a Catalog to a map window which does not have a raster map yet:
the map window will temporarily use that georeference or coordinate system;
- drag a compatible coordinate system from a Catalog to a pixel info window:
the coordinate system will be added to the pixel info window; you can thus read coordinates in the new coordinate system as well;
- drag one or more objects from one Catalog to another:
the selected objects are copied to the other Catalog;
- drag a map or table from a Catalog to an operation in the Operation-tree or the Operation-list:
the dialog box of that operation is opened and the input map or table name already filled out;
- drag a map or table from a Catalog to a drop-down list box in a dialog box of an operation:
the object is filled out in the field of the dialog box.
Other functionality:
- To refresh the contents of a Catalog, choose the Refresh command from the Window menu, or press the F5 key on the keyboard.
- To arrange Catalogs, choose the Arrange Catalogs command from the Window menu.
- To close all Catalogs, choose the Close All Catalogs command from the Window menu.
The settings of each Catalog are stored in the registry when a Catalog is closed.
