Map views  and Layouts

Map views:

When a map window displays one or more raster maps, polygon maps, segment maps and/or point maps, and optionally Annotation Text layers, grid lines and/or graticules, you may store such a set as a map view.

A map view contains the names of maps and their display settings, and the settings for the grid lines and/or the graticule(s). Furthermore, the georeference of the map window, the area on which you may have zoomed in, and the scale factor by which the map(s) should be displayed are stored.

By opening a map view later on, the map window will appear exactly as it was saved. You do not need to add individual maps to the map window, nor specify their display options, nor zoom in on a specific area anymore.

Layouts:

For presentation purposes or to print maps later on, you must create a layout.

A layout is a virtual sheet of paper on which you can make a composition of one or more map views; for each map view you can specify the scale on which this map view should be displayed and printed later on.

Mind: A map view in a layout may only contain one raster map.

For each map view in the layout, you can add additional annotation such as:

To complete your layout, you can also add:
