The idea of drag and drop is that you can pick up one or more objects, e.g. a map from a Catalog or from Windows Explorer, to move the object(s) to another position, and to release the object(s) at the new position in order to perform a certain task without using any menu.
Select one or more objects in a Catalog or in Windows Explorer, and move the object(s) to another position while holding the left mouse button down. Then release the left mouse button.
Examples:
- When you drag one or more selected objects from a Catalog and drop them in an another Catalog, the objects are copied to the other Catalog.
- When you drag one or more selected objects from a Catalog and drop them on a directory listed in the Navigator, the objects are copied to the other directory.
- When you drag one or more selected maps from a Catalog and drop them in an existing map window, the maps are added as extra data layers to the map window.
- When you drag one or more selected maps from a Catalog and drop them in a pixel information window, the maps and optional attribute tables are added to the pixel information window.
- When you drag a map from a Catalog and drop it on an operation in the Operation-tree or in the Operation-list, the dialog box for the operation appears and the dragged object serves as input for the operation.
- In the Layer Management pane of a map window, you can change the order of the layers drawn in the map window.
- In a table window, you can change the order of the columns by dragging a column name to a new position.
- In the domain class editor, you can change the order of the classes in that domain by dragging a class to a new position.
- In the dialog boxes for legends of class maps, etc., you can change the order of the classes in the legend by dragging classes to a new position.
