About spatial-analyst.net
|
spatial-analyst.net logo spatial-analyst.net is a non-commercial website intended for users interested in advanced use of geocomputational tools. The topics discussed generally belong to spatio-temporal data analysis sciences, digital cartography, geomorphometry, geostatistics, geovisualization, GPS tracking and navigation, raster-based GIS modelling and similar. Most of the articles presented are only supplementary materials to various research publications. Visitors of the website are kindly asked to refer to the peer-reviewed publications, when citing some of the materials, instead of referring to the URL of an article. All materials are prepared on an informative basis only. This is a wiki project, which obviously means that you can edit, extend and modify much of its content. Please also read the disclaimer before using some of the materials. and NO! This site has not much to do with the ESRI's spatial analyst extension.

Preview of Global layers 5 km resolution An updated repository of publicly available data sets of interest for global modeling/mapping can be obtained directly from this URL. This now contains cca 100 layers at resolution of 0.05 arcdegrees (5.6 km) and with a complete world coverage. Each layer comes with a raster description file *.rdc, which typically has the same name as the attached layer (description of the fields is available in the README file). The raster description file includes also a link to an R script that (should) show all processing steps from download to export of maps (I advise you to run the scripts step by step because the data sets are usually Huge). If you want to read more about what is all available on this repository (and outside), please read the complete article. You can also browse a gallery of worldmaps from the wikimedia commons. If you think that I have maybe missed some important (publicly available) layers, please let me know. I am sure that there is much more what is available (on and off the web), but I would at least try to be representative.

GEOSTAT 2011 Summer School group photo The GEOSTAT 2012 Summer School for PhD students and R-sig-geo enthusiasts will be held this year at the Institute for Geoinformatics of the University of Muenster, Germany in the period from 3-8(11) September. The topics include: spatial and spatio-temporal data and data analysis in R, R as a GIS, visualization of spatio-temporal data from R to Google Earth, GRASS and SAGA GIS tutorials, spatial aggregation and change of support in geostatistics, and topics from spatio-temporal geostatistics.
