Transform segment map

Dialog box

The Transform segment map operation transforms the coordinates of segments in a segment map from the map's current coordinate system to another target coordinate system. You can choose whether segment coordinates should be densified before the transformation takes place.

The Transform operation can only be used when a transformation between the input and target coordinate systems is possible. For more information, refer to Transform segment map : functionality/algorithm.

Dialog box options:

Input segment map:

Select an input segment map. Open the list box and select the desired input map, or drag a segment map directly from the Catalog into this box.

For your information, when you have selected a segment map, a text line will appear showing the name and type of the coordinate system that is used by the input segment map. This is the coordinate system from which you will transform coordinates from.

Densify coordinates:

Select this check box if you wish to densify the intermediate points in the segments before the transformation will take place. This may ensure better shapes of segments in the output map.

Distance (m):

Type a value for the distance interval at which intermediate points should be inserted.

Output segment map:

Type a name for the output segment map that will contain the transformed segments.

Coordinate system:

Select an existing target coordinate system or create a new coordinate system by using the create button. This is the coordinate system to which you will transform the coordinates of your input map to.

Description:

Optionally, type a description for the output map. The description will appear in the status bar of the Main window when moving the mouse pointer over the map in a Catalog, and in the title bar of a map window when the output map is displayed. If no description is supplied, the output map will use its own definition as description.

When you click the Show button, the dependent output map will be defined, calculated and shown. When you click the Define button, the dependent output map will only be defined; if necessary, the map will be calculated later, for instance when the map is opened to be displayed.
