Overland flow length

Functionality

The Overland Flow Length operation calculates for each pixel the overland distance towards the 'nearest' drainage according to the flow paths available in the Flow Direction map.

As input is required:

The operation produces a raster map that contains the overland down-flow distances towards the drainage into which a pixel will drain according to the flow direction map.

Example:

Input flow direction map Input drainage network ordering map (in blue);
catchments from catchment extraction (in green) for reference

Output overland flow length map;
input streams (in white) and catchments (in black) for reference
Smaller distance values in blue; larger distance values in red

Input map requirements:

Domain and georeference of output map:

The output raster map will always use system domain Value; the precision is automatically set to 0.001.

The output map uses the same georeference as the input maps.
