Value maps/Value columns

Value maps and value columns contain values in contrast to maps and columns that contain for instance class names or identifiers.

If allowed by the (selected) domain of the output object, you may vary the value range and the precision for the output map or column yourself, during each individual operation.

Value maps may use one of the system domains listed below, however, you can also create your own value domains when certain maps or columns contain values with a special meaning, for instance pH, height, yields, or concentration values. When you create a user-defined value domain, it is advised to use a value range and a precision that fit your data. Subsequently, you can also create a meaningful representation (type value) for the values in such a domain.
